Advocacy - Sources provides two kinds of advocacy: (1) consumer advocacy, which involves center staff working with persons with disabilities to obtain necessary support services from other agencies in the community and (2) community advocacy, which involves persons with disabilities, center staff, board members, and volunteers initiating activities to enact changes in the community that make it easier for all persons with disabilities to live more independently.
Peer Support - Peer support connects individuals with disabilities with one another for mutual support through support groups and peer networking. The groups are based on individual and community interests. The objective is to explore options and to solve problems that sometimes occur for people with disabilities, for example, making adjustments to a newly acquired disability, experiencing changes in living arrangements, or learning to use community services more effectively.
Training and Education- Classes and training are offered based upon the direction and interests of the individuals that receive services from SOURCES.
Alternative Waiver for Adults with Physical Disabilities Counseling and Support Case Management– For individuals who have been approved for services by the Department of Human Services Division of Aging and Adult Services, Sources serves as a case manager/counselor for an individual with a disability who has attendant care services. Sources will orientate persons to the concept of consumer-direction providing training on how to recruit, interview, hire, evaluate, manage or dismiss attendants.
Information and Referral- Sources maintains comprehensive information files on accessible housing; transportation; employment opportunities; individuals available to serve as personal care attendants, interpreters, readers for individuals who are visually impaired; and many other services.
Resource Library- SOURCES has a loan library, computers, videos and other materials available to assist individuals with disabilities, families, and the community in researching and remaining informed about issues of importance.
Employment Services- SOURCES provides a comprehensive approach to employment supports and services. We provide job assessment and search training, employment readiness training including resume wring, interview techniques and interview preparation. Sources is also a Ticket to Work Employment Network assisting persons return to work or begin a new career.
Home Modifications and Accessibility- SOURCES assists individuals with mobility impairments to get ramps built and bathrooms modified. All of our ramps and bathrooms are up to code with the Americans with Disabilities Act specifications. Ramps and bathroom modifications are completed for individuals in mobile homes as well as single family homes. Apartments may be considered on a case by case basis. SOURCES will build ramps and modify bathrooms in Benton, Carroll, Madison, and Washington counties as well as other counties if there is no other organization that can assist the individual living there. This program is income based so the individual must income qualify to be eligible for ramp or bathroom modification services.
Social Security Benefits Planning– SOURCES provides benefits planning and outreach for SSI and SSDI beneficiaries 14-64 years of age who are interested in employment. Services will assist individuals in: understanding how work will affect your benefits; developing a plan to become self-supporting; networking with other agencies that can help with vocational training and job placement.
ADA Technical Assistance- SOURCES provides consultation services and technical assistance to individuals and businesses on achieving compliance with the American Disabilities Act and the Fair Housing Act.
Voter Registration- SOURCES is an authorized voter registration site.
